This page is dedicated to analysis and images from a single pass on May 29th 2005.

On this occasion closest approach occurred at 21:25:55UTC at an altitude of 87° and a distance of 793km. The Sun was 7 degrees below the horizon. This was the first time I had successfully tracked Envisat from rising to setting. 

A stack of 81 images selected from 250 obtained in 5 seconds. The images were processed by Registax. The image has been enlarged x2.

The panel measures 33 pixels or 3.8arcseconds or 15.5m at 827km. ESA data suggests it is 16m long

The main body is clearly over exposed but measures 20 pixels or 2.36arcseconds or 9.4m at 827km. ESA data suggests it is 10m long.
