14th December 2001
  • Times 17:47 to 17:52UTC
  • Maximum altitude 66°
  • Minimum range 434km

This pass includes the Space Shuttle Endeavour on flight ST108. The range and altitude are just about the best possible from the latitude of Manchester. High altitude is essential for good seeing and hence good resolution images.

These images were taken during Shuttle flight STS108 which was also ISS flight UF-1. The flight lasted from 05/12/01 and to 17/12/01.

STS108 carried the Multi Purpose Logistics Module MPLM. It also launched a small satellite called Starshine 2.

The Russian Docking port was added during mission 4R in September 2001.

This still was obtained at 17:50:42 and clearly shows the space shuttle Endeavour as well a very sharp image of the ISS. The station was flying in XVV mode as predicted by the acompanying screen shot from the simulator.
